Dear Community,
On behalf of all of the staff and board of The Audre Lorde Project, we are happy and proud to announce the promotion of Cleopatra Acquaye-Reynolds (Cleopatra from the Bronx) from Membership Coordinator to Program Director. Cleopatra joined ALP in 2012 as a member and in 2014 came on staff as the Membership Coordinator. In her almost four years as the Membership Coordinator, Cleo has done an exceptional job growing and strengthening ALP’s leadership development, outreach and base building work and has created innovative and inspiring new programming. We are thrilled that she will be taking on an increased leadership role within ALP as the Program Director and we are excited about her vision for the team.
We are also happy to announce that our current Program Director, Ileana Mendez-Penate will be transitioning into a new role as the Director of Special Projects working with the program and administrative teams to grow ALP’s organizational systems, and deepen our training and evaluation processes. We are glad that Ileana will continue to offer her skills to ALP and remain a part of team in a new role.
With this transition Cleo joins Tasha Amezcua, our former member and SOS Coordinator and current Manager of Finance and Administration as another staff member who brings their programmatic experience and expertise to our Administrative Team. These leadership transitions strengthen and deepen our organizational culture and embody our commitment to uplift the leadership of our membership base.
With that said, please help us find a new Member Engagement & Leadership Coordinator who will continue Cleo’s fantastic work. We are looking for someone who wants to build power with LGBTSTGNC People of Color in New York City through leadership development, facilitation and training! Please see job description below and spread the word!
Best,
Kim and ALP Staff
