Bed-Stuy Pride. We came. We Celebrated.
From the incredible performances by cultural workers and artists alike to the amazingly supportive small business and organization vendors the 3rd Annual Bed-Stuy Pride was jam packed with beauty. I am so grateful to be surrounded by such a hard-working community dedicated to challenging homophobic and transphobic violence [all while lookin Brooklyn fly].
As I unpack boxes in the Brooklyn office I’m reminded of some of my favorite moments of the day...
-Watching the wellness tent transform stress into glowing calm
-The seamless safety created by the security team
-A mass of young people demanding face painters to be transformed into bunnies, frogs, and beyonce [ok so I might have requested beyonce]
-Seeing these same young folks contributing to the clothing line timeline with visions of hope such as ‘gay is ok!’ and ‘stop hitting and be cool’
-Ending with what has now become the traditional community electric slide of epic proportions
A HUGE thanks to all of the Bed-Stuy Pride volunteers including folks who cleaned up, security, health and wellness practitioners, and of course the tireless efforts of the SOS collective active and core members in making this event happen- Share, Steph, Ceci, Brittany, Sal, Eugene, Julissa, and so many more.
Ya’ll are just so much beauty and sass!
