ABOUT THE COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP SKILLS TRAINING SERIES
What do you want to organize OUTside the lines? Do you have an organizing project you are looking to build from the inside OUT, and need the skills to do it? We are here to cultivate your skills to build towards a dream project that you have wanted to bring to life.
This Leadership Development Series will support you by increasing your skills and developing your leadership within the realm of community organizing and social change work. This training will help you to better challenge the multiple oppressions faced by LGBTSTGNC People of Color communities. We are committed to training and building our community members so that we are all recognized as individuals with power who are collectively building movement. We want you to have more tools to build vision and transform our lives!
***This Workshop series is open to folks who identify as LGBTSTGNC POC only***

The first two workshops of the OUTsiderz Series will be a two-part Interview Skills workshop! The first part will focus on physical presence and non-verbal communication. How do you walk into a room and get the attention you want? How do you keep yourself calm and collected outside, even when you're a wild storm inside? Participants will learn practices on awareness and learn what they need to prep themselves before they rep themselves!
The second part will focus on the external atmospheres of repping yourself. Participants will be engaging in building a script, and practicing their personal pitch! (Taking Place December 1st!, 2016)
Although, the name of this workshop will be "Interview Skills", concepts learned here can be applicable to a large range of situations such as auditions, panels, public speaking and more!
Our long time dedicated member, Kirya Traber, will be kicking off our Workshop Series by facilitating this exciting two-part workshop. A Board Member of ALP, Kirya is also a trained performer, writer, cultural worker & Blerd(Black Nerd).
“What are the words you do not yet have? What do you need to say? What are the tyrannies you swallow day by day and attempt to make your own, until you will sicken and die of them, still in silence.” Audre Lorde, ‘The Transformation of Silence into Language and Action’, (1978)
