What does healing have to do with social justice? What role does trauma play in our movements? How do we ensure that our coworkers are in good health and good spirits? How is our work compromised when we do not have self-care support in the work place? How does the history of the medical industrial complex effect each of our bodies as we work, as we push for joy, for justice? What does the pace of work in NYC non-profits have to do with institutions of capitalism, ableism, and other systems of oppression?

Join us the second event of a 3-part series in the conversation of health justice in New York City. Third Root, Casa Atabex Ache, and the Rock Dove Collective present organizations that support wellness work in their programmatic work: the Audre Lorde Project,  Challenging Male Supremacy, and the Center for Anti Violence Education. There is growth in creating room for self-care within non-profits in NYC, and these nonprofits are excelling at their work! The speakers will talk about how they brought healing into their work, why they consider that important, and the effect that they see in the way they are able to do their work.

You: come prepared to ask questions! Reflect on your own self care, or that of those around you. Consider how you do progressive work, and how you take care of yourself, and how those intersect. What works? Is the work prioritized above your wellbeing? Why? What is supported and expected in your work?

What isn't? Why?
