What is the Audre Lorde Project Fighting Burn Out Retreat?
Burn Out is a serious health condition for many involved in movement work. The staff, board, and volunteers of ALP often spend every moment working, often making sacrifices, and neglecting to create a sustainable environment for themselves.
From the evening of Friday, September 16th to Sunday, September 18th the Audre Lorde Project will host our 5th FREE Fighting Burn Out Retreat for organizers. The retreat seeks to create a space where; people can reintegrate their mind body and soul, develop mindful awareness of how to cope with burn out, practice self-care techniques and envision practices that ALP should incorporate into our work.
We will be joined by facilitator Telesh Pascual Lopez! Participants will share and learn from one another on issues including self care and sustainability, dealing with anger, burnout, and fear. Time each day will be devoted to personal reflection, engaging meaningful conversation and fun! We will be returning to the Sky Lake Lodge, a Shambhala contemplative center for meditation, arts and community (think trails and spring beauty you can find in the woods.) Sky Lake Lodge is located just two hours north of Manhattan in the Mid-Hudson River Valley.
Who should attend?
Space is limited to 15 participants; in fairness to other Audre Lorde Project members we will prioritize folks who have not been on this retreat before. You should register to attend if:
