Greetings Security Comrades,

***If you are able to be a part of the security team, please email Kade at kade@alp.org by 8pm, Wednesday, September 5th, 2018.***

Safe Outside the System will be coordinating the 8th Annual Bed-Stuy Pride on Sunday, September 9th. The day will celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual, two spirit, transgender and gender-non-conforming people of color living in the Bed-Stuy and Central Brooklyn community. It will feature local artists, performances, workshops, music, vendors, family friendly wellness & fitness activities and more.  Learn more about Bed-Stuy Pride and RSVP at the FB PAGE HERE: https://www.facebook.com/events/1623089711132963/?active_tab=about

In order to ensure the safety and self-determination of participants, we're looking to build a security team of at least 30 folks who have been security trained. Security will gather in two shifts, with the first shift starting at 11:15am and dispersing at 3pm, and the second team begining at 2:15pm and dispersing at 6:30pm. We are expecting lots of participants, so the bigger the security team, the better!

This action is a low risk action. Please assess your own risk. If you have an open case, a warrant, an ACD, or are undocumented, consider the risk associated with your participation on the security team.

If you are able to be a part of the security team for Bed-Stuy Pride, please be available from 11:15am to 6:30pm on Sunday, September 9th. If you are not able to make it to an entire shift, but you would like to volunteer anyways, please e-mail kade@alp.org to let me know your availability. If you can make multiple shifts, please let Kade know as well.

If you would like to be apart of the security team and you haven't been security trained yet OR if you are not able to make it for the whole shift, please email me at kade@alp.org.

At the end of this week, you will be sent information on meet up location, schedules, and other protocol details to support you. If you are able to be a part of the security team, please email Kade at kade@alp.org by 8pm, Wednesday, September 5th, and fill out the EMERGENCY CONTACT FORM! You can also text me at (978) 252-4888 with:

1. Your name

2. Your Pronoun(s)

3. Your phone number & or E-mail

4. Your preferred shift(s)

or you can reach Kade at Kade@alp.org to confirm your participation, or for questions.

I really hope you can join us in making Bed-Stuy Pride safer, more accessible, and impactful!
