Join us as we honor the life of community member DeAndre Matthews. DeAndre was a 19 year old gay man from Brooklyn who was murdered earlier in February. This will be a vigil to uplift his sacred life while acknowledging the lives of all queer and trans folks lost to us. While grief is present for many of us individually, it’s important that we hold one another collectively. Gwendolyn Brooks reminds us, “We are each other’s harvest; we are each other’s business; we are each other’s magnitude and bond.”
This virtual space will be held Friday, March 3rd from 6pm-7:30pm. There will be time for folks to share, and community healing practices to fortify ourselves as we continue the powerful work of protecting one another.
We hope you can join us to uplift our grief and love for each other, and to honor the life of DeAndre.
