Breath Like Graffiti: A Fierce Writing Workshop (Accepting Applications!)
Breath Like Graffiti: A Fierce Writing Workshop
facilitated by yvonne fly onakeme etaghene

This creative writing and poetry workshop will focus on writing the sacred, the profane and the unspeakable while finding, defining and honing oneʼs unique, individual voice and writing style.  We will take on questions like: How does one speak about pain beautifully? How can one make another feel as you have felt?  We will also deal with the fine art of editing to enhance and build up a piece.  This writing workshop whole-heartedly welcomes all writing levels and encourages writers to experiment with writing in different genres and writing styles.  The workshop will be a supportive one that offers the valuable feedback writers need to blossom and flourish.  Participants will have the opportunity (if they choose) to have the group and facilitator give individual feedback to their pieces.  Facilitator will also give out writing assignments and offer readings for participants to experiment with.  Participants are welcome to do or not do homework.

This is a writing workshop designed for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Two Spirit, Queer, Questioning People Of Color and Straight People Of Color and therefore recognizes writing as a political art form, a healing space and a breathing space. The focus of this workshop will be flexible dependent on the needs and requests of the participants.  This will be an 8 week-long workshop with weekly 2 hour long meetings.  The cost of attending is sliding scale $10-30 per workshop.  No one turned away for lack of funds!  If you would like to apply but cannot attend all the scheduled meetings, apply anyway and indicate how many workshops you can attend.  This workshop will be facilitated by yvonne fly onakeme etaghene (see bio below).
