Dear Community,

June is here, and we have a lot going on at ALP! In preparation for our 15th Annual Trans Day of Action (TDOA), we're bringing you powerful opportunities to participate in movement history with us this year. It's been 50 years since the Stonewall Riots, and we still have work to do, but it can't happen without your support and participation. It's the perfect time of year to get involved in the work of centering LGBTSTGNC People of Color in our movement spaces. Volunteer with us, apply to join our board, or make a donation to support our work. Folks who have been trained on ALP's Community Safety protocols are strongly encouraged to join our Safety Team and support us at TDOA.

Recently, we had the honor of being included in a series on community-led social justice organizations, directed by Tourmaline and starring Aaron Philip, produced by Unilever in honor of Stonewall 50 and the movement for justice and equality for LGBTQIA communities. Watch the powerful video here! We're honored to be among 6 incredible community-led organizations working tirelessly for queer and trans liberation.

Our energy is focused on creating safe spaces where self-determination and justice are amplified, where we as a community can celebrate and connect with one another over the lineage of resistance we're directly participating with today. Join us for our Cultural Werk Nights in preparation for this momentous anniversary. This month, our programs are centered on the narratives of resilience we've been offered by those who came before us in the quest for liberation for our communities. We are our movement ancestors' wildest dreams, and we will be uplifting their narratives as we march this season.

In Solidarity,

Janhavi Pakrashi

Communications Coordinator

We envision a world where TGNC people are centered as vital stakeholders in our communities, homes, and neighborhoods. We will not manifest our wildest dreams without each other. We need you, the artist, the cultural worker, the healer, and folks committed to gender liberation work. This June, connect with and support the Brick-by-Brick Housing Equity campaign by volunteering your time to phone bank to our communities, signing up for the action team, or donating to the Audre Lorde Project.

Contact rumi@alp.org if you are able to volunteer. If you are an individual or organization who would like to endorse our 15th Annual Trans Day of Action, please visit our website or email endorsetdoa@alp.org.

This year marks 50 years since the Stonewall Riots of 1969. While mainstream media aims to dilute the radical black, brown, queer, and TGNC history of the riots, WE WILL NOT! Join us - ALP's Safe Outside the System, Trans Justice, and 3rd Space Collectives - on our cultural werk nights as we take back our history from pinkwashing and uplift our queer and TGNC liberation struggle. We will be getting creative and making materials for Trans Day of Action. Stonewall means we got to fight back!
