Political Education Coordinator

As a local organizing center and nationally recognized organization in the struggle for racial, social, and economic justice, the Audre Lorde Project is hiring for the position of Membership Engagement & Leadership Coordinator to build our membership base and expand our member leadership capacity. With the completion of our 3-year strategic planning in June 2024 our membership uplifted a long-term goal of grounding ALP as a Political Education and Organizing Center for LGBTSTGNC POC. In alignment with ALP’s mission and organizing principles, this position will work collaboratively with members, staff and board to coordinate programming that supports organizing, building power and engaging our membership base in campaign work.

What does the Program and Political Education Coordinator do?

  • Ensure our political education programming supports our members in developing grassroots organizing skills and deepening their knowledge of effective community organizing strategies.
  • Collaborate with staff and members ensures our political education programming prepares our members to engage in campaign and coalition work
  • Plan the coordination and facilitation of political education programming spaces including panels, workshops, trainings, forums, study groups, collaborative events, and more.
  • Evaluate and update current workshops, trainings, curriculum, program plans, etc. 
  • Engage organizational partners and individuals in developing political education programming.

Development Director

We are hiring a Development Director that can help us sustain the work of the Audre Lorde Project as a local organizing center striving for racial, social, and economic justice. The Development Director will work closely with Executive Leadership to build and implement a multi-pronged strategy that incorporates ALP’s organizing principles of self-determination and collective liberation, while supporting organizational sustainability.  As a leader in ALP’s overall resource mobilization, the Development Director will also work to uplift and integrate the work of ALP’s Grassroots Fundraising Coordinator into a broader strategic vision including individual and institutional donors. The ideal candidate is a seasoned fundraiser deeply rooted in progressive racial, sexual, gender, or economic movements who is passionate about ALP’s mission, vision, and goals.

Membership Engagement & Leadership Development Coordinator

In alignment with  ALP’s mission and organizing principles, this position will work collaboratively with members, staff and board to coordinate our base building and leadership development program for all of ALP’s membership base. 
 

What does the Membership Engagement & Leadership Coordinator do?

  • Builds our base, and transforms our memberships lived experiences into political education to build collective power

  • Creatively implements and evaluates a year-round membership recruitment, retention and leadership development strategy and structure in collaboration with relevant board, staff and volunteer leadership.

  • Supports with training and facilitation in all ALP programming areas

  • Obtains, organizes, and maintains secure records of our membership using our database to facilitate communication and membership leadership development
  • Is informed about all the programs at ALP to ensure consistency and active engagement of members in programmatic work.
