Here is an update on Starlite, a Safe Space in the S.O.S. Collective’s Safe Neighborhood Campaign. They’re one of the oldest black owned, non-discriminating, Gay Friendly bars in the city and facing eviction.

Please read below on ways you can help stop the eviction of the Starlite Lounge.

Save Starlite Community Meeting

Sunday, February 28th at 4pm

The Starlite Lounge - 1084 Bergen St. between Nostrand and Rogers

A/C to Nostrand, 3 to Nostrand, B65, B44 to Bergen and Nostrand

If you are interested in getting involved (on any level) in the campaign to Save the Starlite Lounge, please try to come out to our first Open House and ‘Save the Starlite’ Community Meeting.  There we will get to hear from the Starlite family about the amazing 50-year history of this cherished community hub, and the current struggle to keep it open.  A strong show of community support right now can pressure Khaled Yafai, the new building owner, into doing the right thing and negotiating a new lease. Without your support, Starlite could easily fall victim to the relentless push of gentrification and historical erasure. Come lend your creativity and love to make sure this doesn’t happen on our watch!
