When:
Friday, November 8, 2013 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Where:

PROJECT REACH: 39 Eldridge Street, New York 10002

ATTACK THE BLOCK!

Imagine Goonies vs Monster Squad set in the PJs of London. Attack The Block won a ton of awards when it came out in 2011, and even inspired a mixtape by Talib Kweli... but virtually no one has seen it. So in the spirit of Halloween, we're screening this British sci-fi / monster movie where the young folks in hoodies are the heroes!

And stick around for a participatory talkback / Transformative Justice REMIX discussion with special guest Mimi Kim of Creative Interventions, along with members of Audre Lorde Project's Safe OUTside the System Collective, New York City Anti-Violence Project, Catalyst for Community Healing, and the Challenging Male Supremacy Project.

Transform NYC presents …

Transform NYC is raising money for our latest gathering of NYC based collectives, social justice and anti-violence organizations to skill-share transformative justice and community-based responses to violence. Please come out for a fantastic night in support of this work!

Disclaimer: We're still searching for the finest and flyest of pop culture to inform our visions of transformative justice. Attack the Block is by no means perfect --> it has a few pretty gruesome scenes and the gender politics are alright but definitely ain't fantastic. We're hoping you'll enjoy all the good in it, cover your eyes as needed, and keep your heart and mind turned on for the Transformative Justice REMIX discussion!
